Summary: This article addresses and explains those concepts through which the foreign policy of Colombia has been traditionally described. Then, this essay briefly evaluates the foreign policy of all the presidential administrations from president Turbay (1978-1982) to the government of Pastrana (1998-2002). With this historical and theoretical frame, the author makes a comprehensive analysis of the foreign policy of the current administration of Alvaro Uribe Velez during the first three years of government between 2002 and 2005.
