Laburpena: The text presents a global trend to increasing social protests grounded in discontent against the rulers or their actions, past the motivations of social protests, shows how the exercise of social protest can create a conflict of interest with the rights of others and others, highlights the relevance of human rights and international humanitarian law when addressing the part of officials enforcing the law a social protest, shows the contradictions and changes concerning the right of protest that have been presented in Colombia and in conclusion reviews the specific case of the protests at the University of Antioquia during the second half of 2010 and the first of 2011.
