In this sense, the principle of safeguarding the anonymity of a person can operate as grounds for excluding the criminal, civil and social liability of a speaker when he is accused of violating the constitutional rights to privacy, good name and honor a person. This essay explores the jurisprudential overview of this principle in Colombia.El principio de la salvaguardia del anonimato es indispensable para garantizar el respeto a la libertad de expresión, pues en determinados casos le facilita al comunicador guardar reserva sobre sus fuentes, omitir la identidad de la persona que es objeto de noticia e, incluso, mantener su propia personalidad en secreto. Así las cosas, este principio puede llegar a operar como una causal de exclusión de la responsabilidad penal, civil y social del comunicador cuando se le acusa de violar los derechos constitucionales a la intimidad, al buen nombre y a la honra de las personas.
