Secondly, it reviews -roughlythe idea surrounding the explanatory variables, all understood as a model of social choice. Finally, some observations to the median voter theory are submitted according to Colomers employment.El presente ensayo procura una sistematización y crítica a la teoría del votante mediano expuesta en el libro �Instituciones Políticas� de Joseph M. Colomer. En un primer momento, se realiza un repaso sobre los principales ejes temáticos de esa importante obra, intentando explicar en un plano más llano, al menos metodológicamente, la relación causal, concepto, preguntas, hipótesis de investigación y variables en juego. En segundo término, se revisa -grosso modo- la idea que circunscribe a las variables explicativas, entendidas todas como un modelo de elección social.
