Sumario: The main objective of the article is to describe and explain the critical labor situation faced by the dress (clothing) industry in Puebla from the coming into effect of the neoliberal strategy in Mexico in 1982 and its resurgence in the first decade of the century. After a decade of an almost total economic opening, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994, settled the basis for falling of the Mexican manufacturing sector into a situation of structural dependence with respect to the transnational capital which seems difficult to overcome. In short, the main victims of this denationalizing process are the traditional clothing companies from Puebla and thus, their workers, but specifically, their female workers.
