The 1991 Constitution also explicitly states that society and the family should equally share the responsibility to educate youth in the values of democracy and peace. Taking these two assertions into consideration, this article develops the thesis that the commitment of individual citizens, as well as institutional initiative, is required in order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, and that the State should be in charge of these processes. It also argues in favor of the importance of such a project given the absences within legal pedagogy that would: 1) facilitate the implementation of these legal orientations in educational material on peace, and 2) guarantee that the law is upheld.En este artículo se quiere hacer énfasis en la responsabilidad que tiene el Estado en primera instancia para regular y ejercer la suprema inspección y vigilancia de la calidad de la educación, específicamente le concierne velar por la formación moral de los alumnos con miras a desarrollar una cultura de paz que sea sostenible. Sin embargo, la Constitución de Colombia de 1991, también hace explícito que la sociedad y la familia deben igualmente responsabilizarse por educar en el valor de la democracia y la paz. Teniendo en cuenta los anteriores planteamientos se quiere desarrollar la tesis de que para lograrse el cumplimiento de dichos objetivos se amerita tanto el compromiso individual de cada ciudadano, como el institucional, donde es función del Estado controlar estos procesos.
