This article analyzes the fight against organized crime in the Iberoamerican Community of
Nations, which is a forum for consultation and cooperation in a constant process of evolution and, in
consequence, is gradually dealing with many different areas of the Iberoamerican cooperation.
Consequently, it is explained how the issues concerning the fight against organized crime are addressed
in the institutions of which this Community is being progressively provided with. Hence, through this
study it is noted that the phenomenon of the organized crime, as is nowadays understood, is beginning to be taken into account by the Iberoamerican institutions. In addition, as part of a broader policy
framework, this subject could become a specific area in this space. In this respect, the fight against
organized crime appears as a sphere particularly suitable for effective collaboration among the
Iberoamerican States, in a field where there are already deep historical relations expressed through
bilateral agreements in many matters, such as extraditions, mutual legal assistance or transfer of
sentenced persons, among others. Therefore, there have been established judicial mechanisms throughout
the years that reflect this cooperation. Hence, a special attention must be paid to the Iberoamerican
Network of International Legal Cooperation.

Para ello se explica cómo se abordan las cuestiones referidas a la lucha contra esta delincuencia , en las instancias de las que progresivamente se va dotando esta Comunidad, un foro de concertación y cooperación en constante proceso de evolución y que, en consecuencia, va tratando progresivamente ámbitos muy diferentes de la cooperación iberoamericana. A través de este estudio se advierte que el fenómeno de la delincuencia organizada, tal y como se concibe en la actualidad, comienza a ser tenido en cuenta por las instancias que actúan en el espacio iberoamericano y que, como componente de un marco de actuación más amplio, podría llegar a constituirse en una materia específica dentro de este espacio. En este sentido, la lucha contra la delincuencia organizada se nos presenta como un sector especialmente idóneo para hacer efectiva la colaboración de los Estados iberoamericanos en un ámbito en el que ya existen profundas relaciones históricas plasmadas a través de acuerdos de alcance bilateral en materias, por mencionar algunas, como la extradición, la asistencia judicial, o el traslado de personas condenadas y siendo así que se han ido creando, a lo largo de los años, mecanismos jurídicos que plasman esta cooperación.
