Summary: In this paper is analized social and labor relations in nineteenth-century within colombian Caribbean region in light of the legal discussions developed around the area of law that should be assigned unskilled labor. This paper also checks the tendency related to autonomous and salaried ways of work as a result of the social and political crisis lived by the Republic and by the virtue of abundance of natural public resources which provide independent living, with rules issued by employers and authorities to restrict manforce to the sphere of the householding, trying to accentuate semiservile relations. The result shows that these labor links became less important in urban centers and areas of agro-industrial economy hence it was not profitable to employ a forced manpower for employers. On the other hand with the turn of the twentieth century and flows who arrived in the colombian Caribbean cities the problem of lackness of manpower diminished significantly, starting to create a labor market.
