Sumario: Fray Diego Cisneros, a Hieronymite monk who lived in the city of Lima (1772-1812), ran the sale of liturgical books and the income from the estate of the El Escorial Monastery in Peru, which had been granted by both Philip II (1573) and Philip IV of Spain (1664). He held high-ranking positions in the cultural scene of the «City of the Kings», first as a librarian in the San Marcos Major University of Lima and later as an editor of «Mercurio Peruano», a local newspaper. As a result of all that, he became friends with the erudites of that time and started having problems with the Inquisition.
