As a result of all that, he became friends with the erudites of that time and started having problems with the Inquisition.El monje jerónimo fray Diego Cisneros vivió en Lima (1772-1812) administrando la venta de los libros litúrgicos y las rentas que el Monasterio del Escorial tenía en Perú concedidas por Felipe II (1573) y Felipe IV (1664).
