Objective: Introduce the working enviroment, ergonomy and quality of life to an integrational reflection, from a vision of self-determination and selfpoietis in the complexity of the human being, allowing the appreciation and promotion of
individual and colective health. Methodology: Theorical investigation, of critical and hermeneutic method. Employing techniques of bibliographical–documental analysis and revision. Discussion: the before mentioned focus, ratifies the strong relationship between work and quality of life, since it places the working enviroment, as one of the elements which affect the life of the human being in a more direct fashion, equal with factors such as family and home. The privileged site which holds everything related with man’s laboral activities, involves a great deal of responsibility from the worker himself to mantain his health in present an future terms, preventing such complications such as debasement and alienation toward his creative activity; as much as the organisms and institutions which have as primordial goal to protect the health and prevent illnes between it’s human capital. Conclusion: Even if work, being as ancient as humanity itself, ergonomy and quality of life are discipline and concept of a far more recent vintage, emerging in development and evolution, with inter and possibly transdisciplinarian characteristics due to the multiple to the vast network of knowledge which interact with one another. They are qualitative and idiographic constructs related to the subjectivity of the worker; with sympathetic social systems constituted from the emotion of compromise, which according to Maturana, is the factor which constitutes the area of acceptance actions based on the agreement on the performance of a given task.

Metodología: Investigación teórica, de método hermenéutico crítico. Con técnica de revisión y análisis bibliográfico-documental. Discusión: El enfoque anteriormente presentado, ratifica la estrecha relación existente entre trabajo y calidad de vida, ya que ubica al entorno laboral, entre los elementos que afectan más directamente la vida del ser humano, igualándolos con la familia y el hogar. El privilegiado sitio que ocupa todo lo relacionado con la actividad laboral del ser humano, conlleva a una gran responsabilidad del propio trabajador por preservar su salud tanto para el presente como para el futuro, evitando el envilecimiento y la alienación de su actividad creadora; así como de los organismos e instituciones que tiene como fin primordial proteger la salud y prevenir la enfermedad del capital humano. Conclusión: Aunque el trabajo, es casi tan antiguo como la humanidad misma, la ergonomía y la calidad de vida son disciplina y concepto emergentes en construcción y evolución, de carácter inter y quizá transdisciplinarios por las múltiples redes de saberes que confluyen en uno y otro.
