First, the article reviews the budgetary relationship between the European Union, Spain and Catalonia; it then presents and evaluates the financial perspectives approved for 2007-2013. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the consequences for Spain and Catalonia of the main allocations included in these perspectives, such as the cohesion policy, policies for growth, and foreign policy. Finally, the conclusions evaluate the impact of these perspectives on Spain and Catalonia, highlighting that both the extension of the European Union and the rate of Spanish economic growth have led to a resituating of the country on economic scales. Even though this has directly resulted in a loss of resources derived from the cohesion policy, it is also true that it has opened the possibility of obtaining certain other advantages, of lesser quantitative weight, but important from a qualitative and strategic point of view, which could have very favourable repercussions in the mid and long term.Este artículo analiza las consecuencias que puede tener para España y para Cataluña el reciente cambio en las reglas de juego de las perspectivas financieras de la Unión Europea. Así pues, el artículo repasa, en primer lugar, las relaciones presupuestarias de la Unión Europea con España y Cataluña y, en segundo lugar, presenta y valora las perspectivas financieras aprobadas para el período 2007-2013. En tercer lugar, se analizan en detalle las consecuencias para España y Cataluña de las principales partidas que incluyen las perspectivas, como son la política de cohesión, las políticas de crecimiento y la política exterior. Finalmente, un apartado de conclusiones valora el impacto de las mencionadas perspectivas en España y en Cataluña, remarcando que tanto la ampliación de la Unión Europea como el propio ritmo de crecimiento económico español han comportado una reubicación del país en las escalas económicas.
