This article uses an ethnographic and methodology approach to study judicial
interventions in juvenile criminal proceedings in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. In
particular, it describes and analyzes the judicial proceedings in the so-called
"conversion" hearings, in order to investigate the meanings and practices that are put
into play there, not only from the perspective of different judicial agents but also the
perspective of young people. The argument that organizes the work seeks to explain how
the judicial management of juvenile criminal conflict collaborates with the production of
a subject liable to the interventions of the penal system through the multiplication and
accumulation of "provisional truths", which fall on juvenile trajectories |
