Summary: This paper aims to make a very general presentation of the main innovations introduced in the 2021 Social Security reform, within the framework of the Toledo Pact, the accompanying social agreement and the Recovery Plan. The objective discussed so many times and always questioned about the sustainability of the System is analysed, on the basis of a new financial balance that in the medium term will face the prospects of increased spending, especially derived from access to the retirement of the baby boomer generation. It analyses how it is intended to act both from the field of income and the corresponding expenses. There is not the slightest doubt that it is a far-reaching reform, both in the short and medium term, with pending issues to be addressed and without being able to make a well-founded assessment yet to know to what extent its result is finally satisfactory for the achievement of the objectives sought with this reform. For the rest, the work is also carried out from the perspective of making a presentation of the set of essays that are contained in this issue of the Journal that, as a semi-monographic issue, analyze this new Social Security reform in its entirety.
