Summary: The main objective of this documentary research was to analyze the legal approach to criminology in Venezuela, the organization and systematization of its teaching. It is basically a review of the historical review of the founding of the School of Criminology at the Los Andes University, the only institution in the country to offer this degree, located in the state of Merida. The profile of its graduates and the opening they receive to the working world is exposed. With the intention of making known the legal foundations that support the career in this country. It also highlights curricular aspects of the teaching-learning process of students and teachers who make life in this school, unique in its kind in the country. This research manages to expose some relevant conclusions on key aspects to be taken into account in order to give new impetus to criminology in Venezuela, highlighting among them, the need for its expansion and diversification in diverse areas in accordance with the Latin American social reality.
