Sumario: The origin and development of the Colombian social and armed conflict has as one of its determining factors foreign interference in internal affairs. The United States of America is considered a direct actor since the beginning of the armed confrontation in Colombia, and responsible for its continuity and development. To support this hypothesis, three historical facts that shaped the bilateral relations between the States of Colombia and the United States are analyzed: the split of Panama in 1903, the creation of the Organization of American States in 1948, and the planning and execution of the Plan Laso in 1964. From the development and outcome of these events can be deduced the subordinate position assumed by the Colombian State against the US State, which serves as a political platform for the permanent interference of the latter over the former, as has finally been reflected in the Plan.
