Summary: This article aims to find out what the perception of the social climate that women in prison have and to know if it is different from that of male inmates. Furthermore, an attempt will be made to identify which variables may be the cause of these differences in the perception of quality of prison life for both populations. With the questionnaire that measures the quality of prison life (MPQL) and the responses of 129 inmates, the proposed objectives will be achieved. The results show that both prison populations, men and women have statistically significant differences in their perceptions of the quality of prison life. It is also evident as the organization of the center, the inequality faced by women in prison, and the relationships developed during his stay in prison have a determining influence in explaining the observed differences in the perception of quality of prison life between both population groups.
