Sumario: (...).This articlehighlights thehistoricalinterdependencebetween thecontinuing evolution ofthe political economy ofthe systems of governmentestablished by theGalician-native or installed-elites, andthe shaping of theirterritorialmodel, highlightingtwo key elementsin this trip.First, we will referto the impactonshaping theGalicianregional model thathad thetime shiftof the process ofmonetization of theGalicianagriculturebecause ofthe maintenance of the Ancient Regimen’s political economy until the thetwentieth centuryandthe consequencesit had onthe constructionof space.Secondly, we will discussthe impactthis territorial modelhad on the Galicianeconomic boomduring the second halfof that century, reflectedin the factthattheeconomydeagrarianisationnot wasfollowed byanexpectedpopulationderuralization but by theurbanizationof rural areas.A fact thatis the basisof the difficultiesof our territorialmodelfor the creation ofspacial capital and, we argue, block the abilityof the constructedspaceto influencethe economic processesthat shape theterritory, andour own abilitytodrive suchprocessesfrom planningthrougheconomic rationalityand environmental sustainability.
