More scarce is the issue, the transforming mediation proposed by Baruch Bush and Folger like an effective scope in the production of social and personal transformations. This paper brings together the two thematic: shows some general aspects of the mediation, stands what is meant for the concept of transformative mediation, the characteristics, the principles, the procedure, the mediator’s role and the potential of that involves the implementation in the familiar conflict cases. The greatest aspiration of this work is to contribute is the diffusion of this alternative dispute resolution method and the positioning like a formulate of “co-constructive” justice that transcends the private ambit and permits the empowerment, like citizens, the actors in dispute, binged the scopes, deduces by the implementation in the social, politic, cultural location.La mediación de conflictos es un tema poco conocido en Colombia. Tal vez el mayor protagonismo lo ha tenido con su inclusión en el Código de Procedimiento Penal como una de las herramientas de justicia restaurativa. Más escaso aún, es el tema de la Mediación Transformadora propuesta por Baruch Bush y Folger como enfoque eficaz en la producción de transformaciones personales y sociales. Este artículo reúne ambas temáticas: evidencia algunos aspectos generales de la mediación, destaca lo que se entiende por mediación sus características, principios, límites y alcances, para luego referirse a la mediación transformadora en el ámbito familiar, identificar sus fundamentos, el procedimiento, el rol del mediador y el potencial que entraña su implementación en el caso de los conflictos familiares.
