This article analyzes the problem of the sustained increase of intra-class and inter-class crime at the national level, as well as the State's criminal response resulting in the overflowing construction of new criminal offenses, the arbitrary and draconian increase in the duration of sentences and the elimination of penitentiary benefits, expressive of a worrisome situation of governance through crime that neither wants nor allows us to overcome the critical problem of the criminal issue. The objective of the article is to reflect on the influence of neo-liberalism on the generation of crime in our unequal society, with reference to the region, in order to focus differently on the understanding of crime and worry about recovering humanism against the current policy that exacerbates individualism, consumerism and the accumulation of often superfluous goods. |
