Summary: The analysis of public policy proposals presented during a presidential election campaign is essential to determine the public issues that will be addressed in a possible president’s term. This article analyzes the promises, regarding health topics, made during the 2018 Costa Rican presidential campaign. Given a diversity of thematic axes, this article concludes that there is an emphasis on: a. health management and the provision of health services; and b. health promotion and prevention and health education policies. However, proposals about water resources, road infrastructure (focusing on traffic accident reduction and improving transit within cities), and policies concerning sexuality (including sexual health, and sexual and/or reproductive rights) standout as well.
