This work explores the perception that journalists have about transparency in Spain and analyzes the use by these professionals. It also studies their assessment about transparency of different institutions and the usefulness of these open data for them. For this purpose, we have carried out questionnaires to Spanish journalists distributed throughout the country. The results show a negative opinion about the current regulations and a limited use of data by these professionals.La transparencia ha pasado en los últimos años a ser un pilar básico de las democracias contemporáneas (Monavarian et al., 2016). El periodismo, que tradicionalmente se ha conocido como el cuarto poder en las democracias occidentales, ha sido una de las disciplinas más afectadas por la apertura y transparencia en el siglo XXI. Este trabajo explora la percepción que los periodistas tienen sobre la transparencia en España y analiza el uso que estos profesionales realizan de los datos abiertos ofrecidos por instituciones y organismos. También estudia su valoración de la transparencia de las distintas instituciones e indaga en la utilidad que tienen los datos para estos. Para ello, se han realizado cuestionarios a periodistas españoles distribuidos por toda la geografía del país.
