%0 Article %A Avendaño Castro, William Rodrigo %D 2017 %T Conceptos fundamentales en la relación entre el poder simbólico y la violencia en Colombia %U https://dialnet.unirioja.es/servlet/oaiart?codigo=6713610 %X This papers seeks to specify the necessary concepts to develop the following hypothesis: In Colombia, the elites of symbolic power manage the media by complying with a particular way of conceiving of Modernity: unfortunately, such conceptual subordination tends to perpetuate violence in this country, instead of allowing for its understanding. Along the introduction, the hypothesis is analyzed and establishes the place of this article within the research project it generates. The whole article is composed of two parts. The first one stipulates the concept of “Violence” referred to in the hypothesis; the second one carries out a critical study of the concepts “symbolic power” and “public property”, which are key definitions for the interpretation that Sociology of Communications has developed from Modernity since the end of 20th century, just before the private television channels were consolidated in Colombia. The article concentrates in identifying the methodological problems that come up when forming this hypothesis with a transdisciplinary order in the field of peace and conflict studies.
