Sumario: Spain is currently experiencing a situation of uncertainty regarding its territorial integration. Catalan historical nationalism has grown and evolved towards a clear Independence movement. A very important part of the population of Catalonia is currently posing the separation of the Kingdom of Spain. In its own argumentation, the history of the relations of Castile, of the Hispanic Monarchy or of the Spanish State with Catalonia offers a vision loaded with tensions and obstacles. Nationalism and independence movement have created a mythologized, distorted and aggrieved history before a centralizing and oppressive Spain, which also creates its own myths. This document denounces these opposing visions, analyzes their context and seeks an approach to the historical reality of Catalonia before Spain.
