Sumario: The main purpose of this is article is to analyze the application of the art. 155 CE to the constitutional conflict regarding the relationship between Catalonia and Spain, Intensified especially from the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia of September of 2015. This topic is examined in the context of the other channels of conflict resolution that are foreseen, such as the courts of justice and the Constitutional Court and the political negotiation. It is studied the process of elaborating this provision in the constituent process, its constitutional limits and the exigences and conditions that the own rule heads to the extraordinary measures that the State can adopt. From these general criteria, this work examines, on one hand, the procedure of application of art. 155 CE. It highlights the existence of some serious problems that have prevented it from serving as a channel of dialogue and prior Deliberation to the application of those extraordinary powers. And, on the other hand, it intends to assess the constitutional regularity of the specific measures that have been adopted. It ends with a final reflection that highlights the inadequacy of the path of art. 155 CE to deal with a constitutional crisis like the one raised in Catalonia.
