Laburpena: The present article refers to the prevailing economic model of development in the capitalist system and points the negative consequences of it that affect the global peripheral regions. In order to that, has been made a historical rescue that included the practices of the imperialist countries in the modernity and was observed an environmental degradation in the international ambit. Also, the materialistic historical-dialectical method of approach and the marxist theoretical instrumental were adopted for an analysis of the socio-environmental crisis, through the use of indirect documentation as the research technique. In conclusion, it has been found that the territorialization of negative environmental impacts is an intrinsic effect of imperialist capitalism in the globalized period, especially in detriment of poor countries, and can be explained by social and environmental relations through history that culminated in the international sociopolitical and economic arrangement of contemporaneity.
