Summary: Consumption is one of the foundations of the market-based economy, together with the production of goods and services. It demands a high level of protection for the consumer rights, in harmony and not in conflict with the corporation liberty requirements. From such an approach, this paper proposes an harmonic conception of law of consumer protection, reviewing the State of the art in national doctrine, with appropriate references to the compared doctrine and the legislation in force. In order to complete the proposal, case law is discussed, both at the level of the general concepts and in relation to particular highlights.
