description
Nowadays, terrorism is undergoing changes and evolving on par with the rest of the world. Boko Haram involves the perfect example of a new emerging terrorism not only nurtured by globalization and economy, but supported in turn on three ancient pillars as old as religious fanaticism, bigotry and intercultural conflicts. This article attempts to review the keys of this terrorist group's birth and development process like, among others, the features of their country of origin, the elements or factors leading to their emergence, what assault and financing strategies are they using today and how recruiting of new members is carried out, as well as their relationships with other terrorist groups. Finally, as based on the theory having been examined, prospective analyses will be made on what kind of orientation in their actions is more likely to be followed in an immediate future and in the long run. The findings reached by the authors suggest that there is a strong possibility that Boko Haram will continue to grow and improve the group's resources and strategies, thanks to its relationship with Daesh, but only to end up being swallowed by them -or should we say phagocyted- as part of a territorial expansion process.
