Summary: The objective of this investigation is to analyse the Book of Asientos de demandas y sus Resoluciones de la Diputación del Real Consulado de la ciudad de Mendoza (Entries of lawsuits and decisions of the Royal Consulate Council of Mendoza city), during the period between 1798 and 1809, in order to examine the commercial judicial praxis and, at the same time, to achieve a general knowledge of the socio cultural world towards the end of the colonial regime, learning about the motivations, difficulties, interests, etc. of those who administered and those who claimed justice in a peripheral but important city from the commercial point of view, considering that Mendoza was a necessary stage on the route which joined Buenos Aires with the General Captaincy of Chile.
