description
The oeconomica or the economy of the old Europe, as he called Otto Brunner, is a significant aspect of a mental structure, which was part of the cultural basis on which legal and policy building of the modern centuries was built. It was a compendium of knowledge, conceptualized as essential to the good governance of the House and the noble family. It had linked significant concepts, such as love, friendship, and the benefit concepts, which were arrangers of a particular way of conceiving the ordering of the stately home, his political duties and their forms of the family inheritance management. The transmission of this knowledge was embodied in a type of educational literature, known as "literature for parents", genus diffused between the 16th and 17TH centuries, finding some works still in the early 18th century. This paper will discuss some handwritten books that are part of that literary tradition, but belatedly, composed between 1748 and 1772: the Library for Parents of the Marquis navarro Francisco Magallón y Magallón (1707-1778), one of the few works of this kind in Spanish, as late and almost the only one that tries to explain and defend the œconomy of the old Europe against the new liberal economic ideas of end of the century.
