Thus, right, liberty and recognition pass through different levels of actualization. The challenge is to demonstrate that in these instances of mediation the individual wills are not weakened or eliminated, but, because they are mediated and recognized, are guaranteed and strengthened. Thus, the suspicion of “anti-democratic consequences” that is associated with the conception of the Hegelian State is diminished.Keywords: liberty, recognition, fundamental rights, ethical life.O propósito do estudo é identificar e explicitar o papel desempenhado pelo reconhecimento na concretização e efetivação da ideia da liberdade na Filosofia do Direito de Hegel. Isso significa mostrar que a realização da vontade livre individual inclui necessariamente o reconhecimento dos outros e das instituições sociais. Dessa forma, direito, liberdade e reconhecimento passam por diferentes níveis de realização. O desafio é demonstrar que, nessas instâncias de mediação, as vontades individuais não são enfraquecidas ou eliminadas, mas, porque mediadas e reconhecidas, são asseguradas e fortalecidas.
