A comparative analysis is set up with similar police forces trialed during the colonial period, taking into account the reforms carried out to the intendancy during the critical moments of the Revolution period. Based on this analysis, we outline a series of reflections on the fabric of the political-institutional relations surrounding the intendancy, highlighting the different ideas on police characterizing the politics of the time, all marked by the idea of centralization. Police power – both at the end of the eighteenth century as well as at the beginning of the nineteenth century – takes the form of an institutional space debated between a variety of political actors, from the Crown to the Municipal Council and the Superior Government.On analysera dans cet article l’Intendance générale de Police de Buenos Aires, créée en 1812 en pleine guerre d’indépendance, notre but étant de mettre en perspective ses fonctions et sa structure. On mènera une analyse comparative avec les tentatives similaires d’organisation policière ayant pris forme à l’époque coloniale, et un intérêt particulier sera porté sur les réformes apportées à l’Intendance lors des moments de crise du processus révolutionnaire. Sur ces bases, nous avons mené une série de réflexions sur la trame des rapports politico-institutionnels impliquant l’Intendance, et rendu compte des différentes conceptions de police présentes sur la scène politique, toutes traversées par l’idée de centralisation. Tant à la fin du XVIIIème siècle qu’au début du XIXème, le pouvoir de police a constitué un espace institutionnel objet de débats parmi les différents acteurs politiques, de la Couronne au Conseil municipal, en passant par le Gouvernement central.En este artículo se analiza la Intendencia General de Policía de Buenos Aires establecida en 1812, en el marco de la década revolucionaria, a fin de indagar sobre sus funciones y estructura. Se realiza un análisis comparativo con respecto a los ensayos policiales de similar carácter durante la colonia, y a su vez, se tienen en cuenta las reformas realizadas a la Intendencia en los momentos de crisis de la Revolución. A partir de lo dicho, realizamos una serie de reflexiones sobre la trama de relaciones político-institucionales que rodean a la Intendencia, y damos cuenta de las diferentes ideas de policía que surcaban el escenario político, todas ellas atravesadas por la idea de centralización.
