The adoption of the new Statutes of Autonomy and their legal developments trigger reconsideration and, in some cases, revision, of the Spanish constitutional model of linguistic pluralism (art. 3 of the Spanish Constitution). The author focuses on the level of protection provided by the Statutes of Autonomy to some languages, not declared as official: these languages are more protected by the Statues of Autonomy than by the safeguard clauses including legal recognition of linguistic rights. In order to study their role in the Spanish constitutional model, a reflection on the content and implications of the legal category of linguistic form is needed.El proceso de reforma de los Estatutos de Autonomía ha puesto de manifiesto la trascendencia de las lenguas y su regulación. El modelo constitucional español de pluralismo lingüístico, que tiene en el artículo 3 su clave, está siendo objeto, a la luz de las nuevas previsiones recogidas en los Estatutos de Autonomía y sus desarrollos legales, de un proceso de reflexión y, en algunos casos, de reinterpretación. El autor centra su análisis en el tratamiento que se dispensa estatutariamente a ciertas lenguas que, no habiendo sido objeto de una declaración expresa y formal de doble oficialidad o cooficialidad, gozan de un nivel de tutela superador de las cláusulas de salvaguarda que incluye el reconocimiento legal de derechos lingüísticos.
