Brazil presented to the United Nations Organization (UNO) a proposal to extend the boundaries of the Continental Shelf and could be the first country in the world to have its proposal accepted. Therefore, the repercussions of the extension of the Amazônia Azul are analyzed.Neste estudo, analisa-se a questão dos limites e da extensão das zonas marítimas sob a soberania e a jurisdição brasileiras. No direito brasileiro, denomina-se "Amazônia Azul" a área compreendida pela extensão do Mar Territorial brasileiro (12 milhas), somada à ZEE (188 milhas) e à extensão da Plataforma Continental. O Brasil apresentou à Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) proposta de ampliação de limites da Plataforma Continental e poderá ser o primeiro país no mundo a ter sua proposta aceita.
