Summary: |
Ever since the Vietnam War, the importance
of media in war has been such that
even after the war ended, meetings were
set to try and influence public opinion
into a positive view of future conflicts. It
has been since then understood that wars are fought both at the battlefield and the
propaganda level. This has put forward
the idea of media not just as a messenger
or a representative in absence of the real
thing, but as part of the political discourse
that helps shape public life. Before 1914
propaganda meant the simple broadcast of
ideas but after world war one it acquired
a negative connotation, especially after
the first experiences with psychological warfare. |
