Laburpena: This article examines internationalization instruments of the Colombian economy and strategies designed of the country towards the Asia-Pacific region since the nineties, in relation to the attraction of FDI flows. The South Korean situation is taken into account, as it is the only country which Colombia has a BIT in force. As hypothesis of this investigation, it is stated that both Colombia and South Korea did apply economic liberalization measures similar during the nineties and, despite recognizing protection standards similar in FDI issues, the effects produced have been different. Through a comparative study, this paper aims to contrast foreign economic policies carried out by those counties since 1990 up to 2010 and the results obtained through its implementation.
