Summary: |
Low turn out in elections represents in many parts of the world a
summary of how detached from politics citizens are. However, the low
voter participation does not appear to affect the legality of the government
of the day, but reduces in theory the legitimacy and representativity
of elected authorities. In Mexico, as in many other Latin-American countries, as a way to explain non-participation, public opinion has
repeatedly shown the lack of trust towards political parties and a generalized
apathy of citizens, towards building processes of political
representation. |
