Summary: Nowadays, contextual and community demands, teachers and students´ requirements and curricular needs, compel the education management be innovative, competitive, responsive, problem solving, timely and relevant to the diversity of needs and changes involved in education as a social phenomenon. For this reason, this article seeks to highlight a technological perspective in the context of educational institutions by addressing theoretical and conceptual items on the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) by educational managers, in order to streamline their management. The approaches outlined in this paper are framed within the review and analysis of documentary material inherent to the issues discussed. Among the main considerations discussed is the necessity to develop educational policies and activities aimed at providing infrastructure and at conditioning information and communication technologies, relevant and appropriate to the needs, characteristics and objectives in an integrated manner, so as to be used as tools to support both the teaching and learning processes and the management processes.
