AB  - This article is looking forward to make a critical analysis of the treatment given to the geographical indications and specifically to the origin denominations, in the free trade agreement signed by Colombia and Peru with United States (FTA CAN) and the FTA signed by this nation with Chlie (FTA CHILE). For the purpose of this document, we will focus our attention in regards of the trends given to the topic in this treaties in which is possible to establish that they are aim to treat geographical indications and origin denominations as collective brands and as certification or guarantee brands.
