Summary: Because of the nature of its obligations, the construction contract is under contingencies of multiple risks which may generate higher costs or even the impossibility of its execution. This paper shows a broad concept of risk, which will be later restricted to analyze it in the framework of the construction contract. It also analyzes the classification of risks and the different criteria internationally used for risk allocation. Finally, it presents some guidelines that should be taken into account to make a proper allocation of risks in construction contracts.
