Summary: |
Peacebuilding is one of the most important UN activities in peace maintainance, which is
aimed at reinforcing statehood in countries after conflict. It has a theoretical framework, relies on a legal
basis and comprises complex actions in conflict management developed through the UN practice of the
last decades. As a matter of analysis, it has been extensively appraised and improved by other social
sciences, but not by international law. This paper intends to overcome this shortcoming and encourage a
discussion on it. It will deal with the concept of peacebuilding, its development and legal status, including
its legal limitations and connected legal problems. Cuestions of feasibility and necessity, as well as of the
theoretical foundation and analysis of cases are excluded from this work |
