The Cuban National Institute of Worker Health (INSAT in Spanish) conducted this study for the purpose of establishing application and validation criteria of the PROVERIFICA model, using the method of validation by hypothesis [construct validation]. An association was hypothesized between assessments provided by the Psychological Work Analysis (PWA), frequency of negative effects, and evaluation of the Verification Questionnaire (VQ) of the model. In an initial stage, the questionnaire was adjusted and adapted to local idioms. Then it was applied at three telecommunications companies and a drug manufacturing company. Forty-six jobs involving 568 workers were evaluated. The external validation criteria used were the APT, the Symptomatic Stress Scale (ESE), Patterns of Subjective Fatigue (PSF) and the Referred Effects Survey (EER). Results were analyzed using the Statistics V.6 package. Comparisons based on correlation coefficient showed high correspondence between CV and the external criteria, particularly the APT results. The investigators’ criterion for concordance yielded an Rk value of 0.90. This questionnaire is useful for a comprehensive assessment of companies in Cuba, although adjustments need to be made, mainly in regard to legal aspects.
