It was a legal documentary investigation with a bibliographical design which technique for data collection was bibliographic index cards and documentary observation of the cooperative associations� special law, the Penal Code, the homeland jurisprudence and the national and foreign doctrine. It is concluded that the application of the piercing of the cooperative veil of cooperatives is legal because it is the result of making an analogy between the mercantile societies and the cooperatives in relation with the necessary and activating suppositions of the aforementioned doctrine.El artículo refi ere el estudio de la doctrina del levantamiento del velo corporativo en las cooperativas que obtienen lucro mercantil a través de la actuación desviada del ente colectivo. En tal sentido, el objetivo general del mismo estuvo orientado a determinar la aplicabilidad de dicha doctrina en las cooperativas. Se trató de una investigación de tipo jurídico documental, con un diseño bibliográfi co cuya técnica de recolección de datos fue el fi chaje bibliográfi co y la observación documental de la ley especial de asociaciones cooperativas, del Código Penal, de la jurisprudencia patria y de la doctrina nacional y extranjera.
