Summary: This article analyzes the current citizenship concept and tries to determine if it responds to a globalized world demands. To achieve this, the study embarks on a historical journey about the diverse theoretical approximations in relation to the citizenship concept and cosmopolitism, having the citizen�s relationship with the Nation State as a primary referent. Then, it is verified the effectiveness of the concept in the solution of the globalized citizen�s conflicts and, finally, the study proposes an approximation to the concept of cosmopolitan citizen and to the social implications generated by citizen practices in the XXI century.
