AB  - This article examines the relationship between women and legislation
during the reign of José I. To that end, we have analysed the laws that were
passed during that period (1808-1813). Their small presence is limited to a few
decrees about education, typically an Enlightenment concern, and to a certain
sensibility of protection towards the massive secularisations promoted by
Napoleon.
