Sumario: The charge of tyranny was a common place in the political vocabulary during the Peninsular War in Spain (1808-1814). As a concept, in addition to attempting to describe a type of government, sought to influence its conversion into legitimate power. This paper aims to present the issue from two dimensions -descriptive and prescriptive- about the use of the concept of tyranny.
