of Research and Surveillance and 18,000 of
Security and Assault for a population of over
24,000,000 inhabitants. After a year of dominance
by the militants in tasks of public order, throughout
1937, the Republican police apparatus was
stabilized. This article focuses on the status
of the strategic city of Cartagena.
