Summary: The research intends to describe the application of labor flexibilization strategies by the automotive industry that allow the adjustment of working conditions to the changes within the economic system in Venezuela. The methodology consisted of a theoretical review on the subject and the implementation of an interview to human resources managers and representatives of trade unions of the carmakers: GENERAL MOTORS MITSUBISHI, TOYOTA, CHRYSLER, located in the country. The results show that labor flexibility is producing non typical forms of employment. This trend is dissociated from labor stability and from collective agreements, so, it generates a precarious worker. It is concluded, that the application of labor flexibilization strategies within the mentioned context has the purpose to improve production practices and workforce utilization levels, as well as to increase production and reduce costs by giving priority to the technical dimension over the social one, in other words, over labor relations.
