AB  - This article states that the relationship between law and development has multiple ways that in
some case are not complementary. In that sense, in a first moment, the law was an instrument in
order to get development and social change. More recently, the neoinstitutional economics states
that a right political and legal framework creates an environment to promote markets and by this
way economic growth. On the other side of the debate, some authors defends that law is completely
neutral for development. Between this thesis is possible to find different contradictions and tensions.
