AB  - Since the enforcement of the Amsterdam Treaty, the European Unión has realized an intensive activity to give contents to the area of freedom, security and justice. This paper analyses the most significant achievements within the representative ambits of border control, asylum, and common immigration policy. The outcome is unequal, and combines the adoption of a great amount of not compulsory norms with the implementation of obligatory EU-regulations. Anyhow, the comunitarization and the consequent subjection of the adopted norms to the interpretation of European Court of Justice, leads to a certain homogenization of the statute of extracomunitarian citizen inside the European Union.
